“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”
– Winston Churchill
You ever heard of the expression “when it rains it pours”? This is very true for Florida today. It has gone from sprinkling to heavy rain. Yet sometimes it will sprinkle and not cause a heavy rain.
My point with this example is sometimes things happen in our life, but we have the option to control if it pours on us. If you start out the day with a negative mindset say after you stabbed your toe you could do one of two things:
1. Move on with your day and don’t let it effect your mood.
2. Get upset and say “this is just my luck.” “What else is going to happen?”
The first example shows us, yes, that may have sucked, but you’re still going to be positive. Then the second one shows us that we are just going to let us set our whole day into being a negative experience. If we do not make an effort to shut down our negative thinking when it happens it’s just going to pour with it your whole day. Yet if you can learn to not let those things effect you so much you can what started as a negative day into a positive.
We all have choices everyday. One of our main choices is how we are going to view things. Like I gave in the above example it can make or break our day. It’s pretty much like a chain reaction so we have to learn to catch it. I know I still have to work on it!
Every time something negative in my life happens it’s so easy to resort back to my old habit of negative thinking. It is honestly really hard for me to just be positive. I remember a long time ago it used to be second nature for me to be positive. Now it’s not because of all the years of thinking in a negative fashion. But like if you gained a bunch of weight. The only way to get your old body back is to continuously put in the hard work and effort. Then before you know it you’ll be where you were plus better because you strengthened your muscles.
Even though you can physically see the results like you can with weight loss; you will see it in how your life begins to transform. It won’t happen all over night, but with all the effort you put in it will come.
So I challenge you all today don’t let the sprinkles of rain in your life make you pour!
