Positively Optimistic Day #29- Who You Are

“Don’t let the expectations and opinions of other people affect your decisions. It’s your life, not theirs. Do what matters most to you; do what makes you feel alive and happy. Don’t let the expectations and ideas of others limit who you are. If you let others tell you who you are, you are living their reality — not yours. There is more to life than pleasing people. There is much more to life than following others’ prescribed path. There is so much more to life than what you experience right now. You need to decide who you are for yourself. Become a whole being. Adventure.” – Roy T. Bennett

Last night I was writing in my journal all the negative things I have told myself. I then for each negative thing wrote a positive affirmation to say instead of it. You’d be surprised how mean we are to ourselves. Often we carry these negative attachments to ourselves even if we don’t come out and say it. I looked at all the negative beliefs about myself and I cried.

It was a good long cry, because I realized how long I’ve actually carried these negative attachments to myself. I let bullies and horrible events that happened in my life define who I am. But I’m here to tell you guys no matter what people have said about you or whatever you’ve been through: YOU ARE NOT THAT! You are someone who is beautifully and wonderfully made! No question about it.

I realized God made me unique and that I shouldn’t be jealous of others, because He views me more beautiful than I could ever imagine. When I thought that the creator of the Universe loves me no matter what..that just made me feel showered with love. For me it’s so comforting to know no matter what someone loves you through everything and doesn’t look down on you like the world does.

Regardless if you believe in God or not I want you to know you are worth such a beautiful life and don’t listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. People will always gossip. They will always say mean things about people. I wish that wasn’t the truth but sadly it is. The fortunate thing though is no matter what these people say you don’t have to give their words power.

I have been told I was probably anything you can think of at some point in my life. I’ve had so many people bully me and tell me that I wasn’t good enough in one form or the other. I’m choosing now not to believe these lies that people have installed in my head because I know I am just as good as anyone else.

If you feel down about yourself I want you to join me in starting to tell yourself positive affirmations to yourself. When you have an old negative belief about yourself enter your mind, replace that with a new positive one. If you don’t change your thinking about things how are you ever going to see a difference? You won’t.

It’s just like any change in your life. You can’t make any change unless you do something different then you did before and your thinking especially is no exception to it. In fact your mind deserves the most work as it helps shape everything else that goes on your life. Let’s practice this out:

I can’t do this workout routine. I’m not in shape.

I can and I will do this routine.

I am ugly.

I am gorgeous!

I am boring.

I am full of life.

Even if you don’t believe these things about yourself say them anyway. Gradually you will find the old beliefs about yourself will fade and the new affirmations will become your new beliefs. Just keep practicing and I promise only good will come from it! I hope you all are having a beautiful day!!

Until tomorrow,

Amber ❤️❤️❤️
